The all-new, first-ever BMW X2 SAC stepped out at the 2018 NAIAS in Detroit in January, and its satisfying a lot of the hopes that critics and fans alike had for it.

In the fall, we took a peek at the 2018 BMW X2, which provided us with some photos, a few key specs, additional exterior treatments like the M Sport X Package, and an incredible amount of hype for what was about to come.

We were not disappointed.

2019 BMW X2 Release Date

We can confidently say now, per BMW, that the newest BMW X2 models will be rolling out to dealerships in the first week of March--that's less than four weeks away. We can expect to see the first models landing in Charlotte and the surrounding area soon after.

At the Detroit Auto Show, BMW was also able to confirm specs and details for us: the 2019 BMW X2 will come standard with the exciting turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (228 horsepower / 258 pound-feet of torque), an 8-speed automatic transmission, and--at the moment--with standard xDrive All-Wheel Drive.

We'll likely see a FWD variant soon.
