MARKET AREA VICE PRESIDENT AND EXECUTIVE GENERAL MANAGER, HENDRICK AUTOMOTIVE GROUP
John Desmond spent the majority of his childhood in Detroit where he learned a love for the automotive industry from his father, a General Motors executive. Desmond studied business at nearby Oakland University, offsetting the cost of tuition by working for his older brother, who was sales manager at a Chevrolet dealership in Baltimore. During his college years, Desmond spent each summer working at the store as a sales associate.
In 1991, Desmond graduated from Oakland University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Having acquired a passion for the automotive industry, he returned to Baltimore and accepted his first full-time job as a manager trainee at a local Chevrolet dealership. Desmond moved to Charleston, S.C., in 1994 when he was hired by Hendrick Automotive Group as the Sales Manager at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet. He remained in that role until 1998 when he was promoted to General Sales Manager at Hendrick Lexus in Charlotte, N.C.
In 2004, Desmond was named General Manager of Hendrick BMW/MINI on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte. Since that time, Hendrick BMW has earned BMW's highest "Center of Excellence" honor a manufacturer record eleven consecutive years. In 2011, 2012 and in 2013, Hendrick BMW finished as the highest-ranked BMW store in the country, based on sales, service and customer satisfaction. Hendrick MINI in 2010 as well as 2012 was named the "MINI Motoring Cup" winner, earning MINI's most prestigious award.
In October 2011, Desmond was one of three Hendrick Automotive Group employees promoted to the new position of Market Area Vice President and Executive General Manager. In his new role, Desmond oversees operations at Hendrick BMW/MINI, Hendrick Motors of Charlotte, Hendrick Lexus and the Hendrick Luxury Auto Mall at Northlake, all in the greater-Charlotte area. Desmond and wife Carmen have a daughter, Olivia. The family resides in Charlotte.

After attending the University of California, Los Angeles, and graduating with a degree in Sociology, a vacation to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina changed Cliff Spangler's life. Cliff and his wife fell in love with the area and decided to raise a family in Charlotte, N.C.
After moving east, Cliff joined Hendrick Automotive Group in 1998 as a sales associate at Hendrick Lexus on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte. A consistent top performer, Cliff achieved the 2003 Pinnacle Award from Hendrick Automotive Group for being the company's top sales associate of highline vehicles.
The following year, Cliff was promoted to New Car Manager at Hendrick BMW, also in Charlotte. Cliff's department's sales increased and helped Hendrick BMW become the best-selling luxury brand in the greater Charlotte area. The dealership has since earned ten consecutive BMW Center of Excellence awards and was named the number-one BMW dealership in the country in 2011, 2012, and 2013 based on sales, service and customer satisfaction.
Cliff showed promise as a team leader and was promoted in 2012 to General Manager of Hendrick BMW Northlake located at the Hendrick Luxury Auto Mall at Northlake in Charlotte. After a successful start up at the Hendrick BMW Northlake location, Cliff was promoted to General Manager for Hendrick BMW & Hendrick MINI located on independence blvd.
Cliff and his wife have a daughter. The family resides in Charlotte.
HENDRICK BMW NORTHLAKE- GENERAL MANAGER,
Chris was born in Raleigh, NC and spent nearly entire childhood in Cary, North Carolina until graduating from Apex High School in 1997. He married his wife Emily in March of 2007 and moved to Fort Mill SC before the birth of their first son Ethan in May of 2007. Their second son William was born in August 2011. Chris and his family currently still live in Fort Mill with their loving family pet boxer, Sarge.
Chris began working for Hendrick BMW in the summer of 1997 on a part time basis and worked at the store for three of the four summers while in college. His first summer was spent working in service, and was responsible for the fleet of BMW loaner vehicles. His second summer was spent working in the parts department working with the special order inventory, and he also spent a summer assisting the new car department and selling cars. He also spent one summer working at the Cary Auto Mall for Hendrick Chevrolet in the service lane.
In December 2001 Chris graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Business Management. Shortly after in January 2002 he became a Service Advisor at Hendrick BMW. He spent two years as a Service Advisor and 18 months as Assistant Service Manager before being promoted to Service Manager in 2005. In December of 2014 Chris shifted gears and was named as one of two Pre Owned Managers. In 2015 he received the fantastic news that he would be moving up to BMW Northlake as the General Manager.
